1940's WAVES Women Naval Reserve Navy Heavy Weight Wool Blend Winter Peacoat
1940‘s WAVES Women Naval Reserve Navy Heavy Weight Winter Peacoat. United States Naval Reserve (Women‘s Reserve), better known as the WAVES (for Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), was the women‘s branch of the United States Naval Reserve during World War II. This set and others were worn by Helen M. Overly, her name stitched in, and stamped in and her picture is included in the picture above. This peacoat is a heavyweight material, maybe a wool blend. Definitely a winter coat. Union made stitching on inner breast pocket. Two outer pockets with corduroy lining, it looks over time that someone restitched or reinforced top seam of pockets, almost didn‘t notice it. No buttons missing. Popped seam on small back vent/dart on left hand side, not noticeable in wear. Ran my hands throughout the inside lining and it‘s in great condition, no wear that I could see or feel. Please note that this item is vintage and over 85 years old, I have listed all the wear that I saw with my inspection but there may be wear I’ve missed. Please refer to measurements for sizing. Measurements with buttons closed:Flat shoulder non doubled measurement seam to seam: 17"", 40"" Bust, 35"" Waist, 41"" Hip, 40"" length.
