1940's WAVES Women's Naval Reserve Navy Blue Blanket Uniform Skirt and Jacket as Is
1940‘s WAVES Women‘s Naval Reserve Navy Blue Blanket Uniform Skirt, Jacket as Is. No patches on arms. United States Naval Reserve (Women‘s Reserve), better known as the WAVES (for Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), was the women‘s branch of the United States Naval Reserve during World War II. This set and others were worn by Helen M. Overly, her name stitched in and her picture is included in the picture above. She was a medic. Jacket wear: popped seam at left collar, loose stitching underneath decorative pocket flaps, lining on left side needs repaired. Fraying hole near left side arm, about 1.5 inches. Someone has used a full piece of fabric to repair under armpit, sunfading on lining. Some fraying on right side seam upper. The only skirt issue that I see is the hook and eye closures is missing a hook. Please be aware this is a set that is 80 years old, while I‘ve listed all I can see there might be some wear I missed. Jacket measurements: 17"" shoulder to shoulder seam undoubled, 40"" Bust, 34"" middle of jacket Waist , 32"" bottom of jacket, 24"" length. Skirt: 30"" Bust, 46"" Hip, 27"" Length.
